ACU Back In Business With Vegas Showing

Las Vegas, Nev.- Following four consecutive losses, Firestorm Wrestling gained both confidence and experience at the Desert Duals hosted by Wartburg College (IA). ACU came away with a 2-1 record, defeating York University (NE) and Saint Vincent College (PA) with complimentary performances by all weight classes.

Korben Shuler's pin of Nash Crane to clinch the win over York (NE) highlighted the most closely-contested of the three duals (ACU 26-21). Jason Ramirez went undefeated (3-0) on Sunday, achieving victory by fall in all three matches. Terrell Kinlicheenie, Bronson Swan, Channing Porter and Shuler all ended the day with a 2-1 record.

COACH MICHAEL BUTTERFIELD'S THOUGHTS

"After a long two days of competition, the Firestorm competed valiantly throughout the entire weekend," Coach Butterfield said. "I am very proud of the efforts of our team to step out on the mat and compete at high levels regardless of what division they are wrestling. We finished the day 2-1 at the Desert Duals and it was highlighted by senior Korben Shuler locking in the dual against York with a pin. Our second team also wrestled three exhibition duals and competed great all day. We are thankful for the opportunity to step on the mat and get better which is what this weekend was all about. (We) head into the break with our heads held high."

NEXT UP

The Firestorm will take some well-earned time off over Christmas break before hitting the mats on December 30th against Embry-Riddle (AZ) in Prescott.
