Glendale, Ariz.- On Monday, the Golden State Athletic Conference announced the 2023 GSAC Softball All-Conference team and Arizona Christian University saw five players get the All-GSAC nod.
Claire Buckley,
Jyden Miles,
Taylor Schleisman,
Taylor Alto, and
Savannah Smith represent the Firestorm. In addition, Buckley, Miles, and
Neeley Bell were named to the Gold Glove group.
For Buckley, out of Clovis, CA, she was named All-GSAC and the GSAC Gold Glove shortstop for the third year in a row. Buckley tops the Firestorm in nearly every offensive category including average (.395), hits (64), doubles (20), home runs (7), RBI (46), and runs (43). Her runs, RBI, and doubles top the GSAC. Defensively, she leads the GASC with 120 assists.
Miles, hailing from Sacramento, CA, hit behind Buckley most of the season and delivered a .351 average while stealing a team high 21 bases. The slapper produced five doubles and a triple. Defensively, the left fielder yielded a .994 fielding percentage that included at least one home run robbing catch. She is now a two All-GSAC and Gold Glove winner.
Schleisman, from Elizabeth, CO, was second on the Firestorm with a .356 average, 16 doubles, and five sacrifice bunts. The second baseman was third on the team with four home runs, 32 RBI, 8 steals, and 49 assists. Schleisman earns her second All-GSAC honor.
Alto, native to Beaverton, OR, hit .329 with a team high four triples and seven sacrifice bunts during the regular season. She doubled six times and drove in 24 runs while scoring 31 runs. The third baseman was second on the Firestorm with 84 assists. Alto claims her second straight All-GSAC honor.
The Firestorm quartet started all 48 games played by ACU in the regular season.
In the circle, Smith, from Bellingham, WA, lead the Firestorm and was second in the GSAC with 20 wins, 186 innings pitched, 197 strikeouts, 34 appearances, 26 starts, and 20 complete games. Her wins, strikeouts, innings pitched, and strikeouts are the most in the single season archives.

Mike Mayben stated, "All five are intense competitors, and amazing teammates. Savannah has grown immensely in the circle and earned the all-conference honors through hard work and commitment. Alto, Buckley, Miles, and Schleisman all repeated great success from 2022. Their commitment to excellence and work ethic were recognized for a second or third consecutive year."
Joining in on the gold glove recognition was Bell, from Scottsdale, AZ, did not commit an error behind the plate all season. She gunned down three would-be base stealers.
