ACU Rolls In Home Opener

Glendale, Ariz.- Playing in front of their home fans for the first time in 2023, Arizona Christian rolled past NCAA Division II Fort Lewis on Saturday evening.  ACU never trailed in the game.

Connecting with eight different receivers, Tyler Duncan, who caught a pass himself, threw for three touchdowns while running for another TD.  AJ Sibley impressed with three touchdowns- two on the ground, one through the air.  

For the second game in a row, Cameron Tibbetts produced 11 tackles.  Jordan Francis made a diving interception- his fourth in two games against Fort Lewis.

  • The Firestorm scored just over two minutes into the game as Duncan connected with Nelson
  • Six minutes later, Sibley took a swing pass from Duncan to the house for a 14-0 cushion
  • The Skyhawks scored the next 10 points including a touchdown on the opening kick-off of the second half
  • Over basically the final two quarters, ACU outscored the FLC 35-15
  • Sibley sandwiched two touchdowns on the ground around the Duncan to Tompkins TD

"It is always good to win a game.  We have a lot of positive things we can build on.  I am proud of the guys' effort on both sides of the ball.  We know we got some things to clean up before we start Frontier League play against MSU-Northern."

Up Next
Arizona Christian will stay home next week when they host MSU-Northern.  Kick-off will come on the ACU Football Field at 7:00 pm as the Firestorm play their first Frontier League game.
