Firestorm open fall with mixed bag

Surprise, Ariz.- ACU Women's Golf teed off their 2023-24 season at the OUAZ Fall Invitational, struggling as a unit but seeing signs from newcomers. Sophia Higuera led the way for the Firestorm with rounds of 84, 79, 79 to finish in a tie for 10th place. It was Sophia Tipton, in her first tournament with ACU, that followed in 18th place with steady improvement in rounds of 86, 85, 83.

SCORECARD HIGHLIGHTS

Sophia Higuera carded two birdies in her final round on holes 8 and 13, to go along with one on the 16th hole in the second round.

Sophia Tipton recorded the only eagle on the par-5 9th in the final round, rebounding from a bogey on the previous hole.

Sarafina Nicholas and Zoey Zastrow each made their lone birdie of the final round on the par-4 16th.

Women's Golf will head to Beaumont, California for the Vanguard Fall Invite held October 17-18. The two-day event will be contested at Oak Valley Golf Club.
