Roybal Crowned GSAC Player of the Week

Glendale, Ariz.- Graciela Roybal, junior guard from Chandler, Arizona, collected her first GSAC Player of the Week honors of the 2023-24 season. Only returning to competition this past Thursday, Roybal catalyzed the Firestorm's 2-0 weekend of GSAC play with 29 points in 37 minutes off the bench. Her stellar performance featured an impressive 8-of-13 from three-point range.

Roybal's season debut came against Life Pacific, and her presence was quickly felt. She knocked down her first five three-pointers and closed the game with 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting. ACU's three-point leader in 2022-23 picked up right where she left off and displayed no lingering sign of injury.

Saturday's game against RV The Master's was a bit tamer (nine points on 3-of-5 shooting), but Roybal was nonetheless a difference-maker in ACU's 79-72 win. Her energy and fierceness as a competitor resulted in two assists, three rebounds and freed up teammates Alyssa Alvarez (31 points) and Emily Till (14 points, 15 rebounds) to play with increased confidence.

Through the second week of the conference schedule, Roybal joins Lauren Gunn (November 13) and Halle Payne (December 18) as winners of GSAC Player of the Week.
