COACH MICHAEL BUTTERFIELD'S THOUGHTS
"This weekend the Firestorm freshman and sophomores competed at the Bill Musick Open hosted by Fresno City College. Several of our freshmen stepped out on the mat and earned their first collegiate wins and competed at extremely high levels. Specifically, freshman Tony Macaluso, Ian Gutierrez, Gary Smith, and Alex Cortez all placed in their first tournament while representing the Firestorm. Sophomore Jason Ramirez and Freshman Sean Archuleta both made it to the finals at 133 pounds, after pinning and teaching their way through the tournament. We are extremely excited for the future of our team after a performance like this in the early stages of their careers. This weekend we head to Prescott for the Mile High Duals and the Mile High Open hosted by Embry Riddle."
