Glendale, AZ. - The Lady Firestorm raced off to a thirteen-point lead by the end of the first quarter, and never trailed from there leading by as many as twenty-seven points in taking down the Lancers of Grace College 98-86.
 
The team shot 12-23 from the three-point line and of their 38 made baskets, 27 of them were assisted.  Senior All-American Alyssa Alvarez, known for her scoring, dished out ten of those assists with an array of no-look, back door, and full court looks that set her teammates up for easy makes.  The biggest recipient of Alvarez was senior Halle Payne who led the team in scoring and scored a season of 23 points on 9-14 shooting.  For the game, the team shot 57% as compared to the Lancers 42%.  Senior Graciela Roybal combined with Alvarez to shoot 9-17 from the three-point line.  Roybal finished with 17 points.
 
The team continues to receive contributions from across the roster.  Off the bench, twin sisters Alana Washington, and Mae Washington combined for 13 rebounds and 8 blocked shots while Junior Lauren Gunn contributed to the three point party with three of her own on her way to 13 points and 4 assists.
 
Concluded Head Coach Rusty Rogers, "Tremendous offensive performance and, for the first half, a pretty good defensive effort.  Unfortunately, our defense really looked bad in the second half, and that needs to get corrected.  The offensive efficiency (minus the turnovers) was awesome.  Disappointed we didn't get a clean second half, but we will get that figured out!"
