Campbell’s Consistency Pays Off, ACU Drops To Third

ACU (293, 298, 310) faltered in final round of TMU Spring Invite to finish 3rd
Llano, Calif. - The Firestorm held a three-shot lead after day one of the TMU Spring Invite, but shot their highest round (310) in closing to fall back to third. Tournament host The Master's fired a final-round 295 (+7) to capture the title by 11, RV Menlo College coming in second place and edging Arizona Christian by a single stroke. The Mustangs' Jonathan Larson (69, 75, 71) took home medalist honors, making a birdie on the par-5 18th hole to win by one.

Matt Campbell (70, 73, 73) was one of two co-leaders after 36 holes (Hope International's Troy Schulz) and entered the 54th hole still tied at the top. The junior was unable to make birdie on 18 and settled for a share of second place. Despite the close-call, Campbell picked up his third top-five finish and registered his lowest 54-hole total (216) of the season.

Colter Praus (73, 76, 71), competing as an individual, also earned a high finish (T-6) after a scorching hot four-under-par 32 on his final nine holes (five birdies to one bogey). His final-round 71 was one off his career-low in 44 rounds as a Firestorm.

Senior Max Mylett (71, 80, 78) could not build upon a solid opening round, slipping back seven spots to T-11th when his final putt was holed.

It was a tournament Gaige Pilot (77, 75, 81) would like to soon forget, his final round 81 being a season-worst by four shots. The junior entered with a team-best 18-hole scoring average of 73.33 and five top-10s.
