Mora's Game Winning Goal Lifts Firestorm Over The Master’s

Glendale, Ariz. – Arizona Christian continued its impressive run of form with a thrilling 3–2 comeback victory over The Master's. The Firestorm improved to 8-2-2 overall and 5-1-1 in GSAC play, extending their unbeaten streak at home and claiming first place in the GSAC conference.

  • The night began with fireworks early on, as Marcos Mora put ACU on the board in the 20th minute with a penalty kick — his fourth goal of the season. 
  • ACU led 1-0. 
  • The Master's responded with two quick goals before halftime to take a 2–1 advantage into the half.
  • After regrouping at halftime, the Firestorm came out pressing. 
  • In the 59th minute, Raul Aranda netted the equalizer — his sixth goal of the year — off a clean assist from Jose Garcia to even the score at 2–2. 
  • ACU continued to dominate possession in the second half, outshooting TMU 8–7 and earning nine corner kicks to the Mustangs' two.
  • With the match seemingly headed for a draw, the Firestorm struck late. 
  • In the 90th minute, Mora found the back of the net again, slotting home the game-winner thanks to another assist from Garcia, sealing the dramatic 3–2 victory. 
  • ACU won the game, 3-2.

"Our guys showed grit and resilience tonight to battle back against a really good Master's team. Our guys showed their quality in moments to capitalize on some key chances. We have something special in this team and now we need to keep our focus on continuing to improve and staying humble. There is a lot of season left to play."
