GSAC Championships Come To Firestorm Recreation Center

Glendale, Ariz.- For the first time,  the GSAC Championships for women's volleyball will come to Arizona Christian University and the Firestorm Recreation Center when ACU hosts OUAZ on Wednesday night in the GSAC Semifinals.

The Firestorm (18-7, 13-3 GSAC) finished tied for second in the GSAC standings and earned the semifinal home match based on the tiebreak of total points head-to-head (144-138 ACU).  The 13 wins in GSAC action are a program best.  ACU has gone 8-2 in their last ten matches and won 14 of their last 16 matches.  The Firestorm are looking for their first win in GSAC tournament play- currently 0-2 with appearances in 2017 and 2018.  Head Coach Tiger Shelton was selected as the GSAC Co-Coach of the Year with Zuri Reeser and Haley Tedrow earning All-GSAC honors on Tuesday.

OUAZ holds a 14-6 all-time lead against Arizona Christian.  But this season the teams split with both teams sweeping on their home courts.

The Spirit (22-4, 13-3 GSAC) concluded the regular season tied with Arizona Christian in the GSAC standings.  OUAZ comes into the match 8-2 in their last ten matches.  As for competing in the GSAC playoffs, the Spirit are 0-3 appearing in 2022-24.
