Saint Xavier Tops ACU In Hard-Fought Battle

Glendale, Ariz. – Saint Xavier secured a 7-4 victory over the Firestorm, using timely hitting and solid pitching to come out on top. The Cougars struck first, plating two runs in the top of the first inning. Their offense started off strong, getting hits in the first several innings, making it 3-0 by the sixth inning. The Firestorm responded in the bottom of the seventh when Jalen Edmonds belted a two-run home run, cutting the deficit to 3-2. However, Saint Xavier extended its lead in the fifth, thanks to a clutch three-run double from their offense, putting them ahead 6-2. Saint Xavier added an extra run in the eighth inning, extending their lead 7-2. However, ACU made a late push in the ninth inning, with Nathan Greene driving in two runs and making the final score, 7-4.
