Grubb Delivers In Comeback Win

Chickasha, Okla.- On a freezing day (about 26 degrees at game's end) and playing at a neutral site with a venue and time change earlier in the day, Christina Grubb delivered a game winning triple to cap a crazy five run top of the seventh that turned a four deficit into a single run win.

  • The Cavaliers cashed in two runs in the first
  • Herrera smashed her first home run of the season to dead center in the second
  • In the third, Bradford singled home Miles and Lauko brought home Bradford for a 3-2 lead
  • After MC tied the game, Bradford dropped down a bunt with the bases loaded to score Garcia and move ACU back in front
  • Montreat scored two in the fifth and three in sixth for an 8-4 advantage
  • Four straight singles (Lauko scoring Henry) made it 8-5 and the comeback was on
  • Herrera doubled home Miles and Bradford to account for a one score game
  • Down to their final out, Grubb sent a triple down the right field line to plate Lauko and Herrera for the game tying and game winning runs
  • Herrera allowed traffic in the bottom of the seventh but a double play and interference produced the final outs for the win

On Saturday, the Firestorm should be back at the originally scheduled venue at the FireLake Ball Fields.  Arizona Christian is scheduled to face Missouri Baptist and Bellevue in back-to-back games.
