Six Players Named 2025 MCLA DII Scholar Athletes

Glendale, Ariz.- On July 3, 2025, the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA), the preeminent non-varsity league in North America, announced the 2025 Division II Scholar Athletes for the season.

Of the 153 individuals earning the award, Arizona Christian had six players on the list: Caleb Frey, Morgan Lennon, Ryan Leonard, Kale Parthen, Blake Smith, and Gavin Waddell.

To be nominated, it requires the players to be on an all-conference team while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher.

Frey, out of Dacula, GA, topped the Firestorm with 136 saves with a save percentage of .555. He also started almost all of the games this season, having seven wins under his belt. Frey allowed 109 goals, saving significantly more goals.

Lennon, out of San Diego, CA, played in 11 games during the season. He had four shots with 19 ground balls. Lennon had a shots on goal percentage of 1.000.

Leonard, out of San Diego, CA, played in 11 games during the season. He had a total of three goals with six shots on goal and 17 shots. He had a shots on goal percentage of .353 and 65 ground balls.

Parthen, out of Colorado Springs, CO, played in 11 games during the season. He had five goals and four assists on the season, with 18 shots and six shots on goal. He had a shots on goal percentage of .333 and 100 ground balls. Parthen led the team with 162 faceoff wins and a .686 faceoff percentage.

Smith, out of Springfield, OR, played in 11 games during the season. He had 12 goals and nine assists on the season, with 37 shots and 12 shots on goal. He had a shots on goal percentage of .324 and 22 ground balls.

Waddell, out of Junction City, OR, started and played in 11 games during the season. He topped the Firestorm in goals, with 21 goals and 19 assists. He had 62 shots and 25 shots on goal. Waddell had a shots on goal percentage of .403 and 19 ground balls.
