Third Quarter The Difference

Glendale, Ariz. - In quarters one, two, and four, Arizona Christian and Hope International balanced out to equal scoring between the teams.  Unfortunately, the Royals winning the third quarter by six proved to be the difference over the Firestorm on Thursday.

  • Till started the scoring
  • HIU countered with an 8-0 run and kept the lead through the first quarter (16-13)
  • With 6:23 left in the second quarter, Spencer drilled a three to give the Firestorm their first lead since Till's opening points
  • Back and forth action ensued before Charlotte O'Neal grabbed an offensive board turn put back to force a 33-33 tie at the break 
  • Till almost reached double-double status in the first half with 15 points and 8 boards
  • A three from HIU gave the Royals the top score early in the third
  • Falling behind by as many as 11 points, ACU closed the cap to six but lost the quarter by that spread
  • Neal did her best to get ACU close as she scored eight of her career high 13 points in the last ten minutes
  • Arizona Christian crept within three on several occasions but Hope International would just not be caught
  • Odd fact- combined the teams did not even attempt ten free throws in the game (ACU 6-8, HIU 0-1)
  • Till, who leads the GSAC in scoring, produced season double-double number 12

NEXT UP FOR THE FIRESTORM
The Master's will come to the ACU Events Center for a Saturday matinee showdown.  Tip-off is set for high noon.
