Fullerton, CA – In a closely contested match up with playoff seeding on the line, the Lady Firestorm came up short in overtime against the Royals of Hope International by a score of 80-72. This despite a career high 30 points from
Emily Till to go along with 15 rebounds and 4 assists.
It was a four-quarter battle between the two teams that saw multiple lead changes. The Firestorm looked ready to pull away when Till hit a jump shot with 1:31 remaining to put the team up by six points. But the Royals hit two three pointers in the final minute, while the Firestorm missed two free throws and two layups to open the door for the Royals to force overtime. In the extra period, the Royals would open by hitting three more three pointers to open a nine-point lead and never looked back to ultimately achieve a hard-fought victory.
