Santa Clarita, Calif. — The women's basketball team is headed to the championship game of the GSAC tournament after earning a hard-fought road win over The Master's University in the opening round of the GSAC Playoffs.
With their season on the line and playing a team that just two weeks ago beat them by nearly thirty points, the Firestorm delivered one of their most complete performances of the season.
Timely shooting and a strong rebounding performance were key for the Firestorm. The team received its usual contributions from the likes of
Emily Till (18 points and 14 rebounds) and
Taylor Schwab (15 points and 4 assists) but got a huge boost from junior
Addison Neal who scored 14 points while going a perfect 4-4 from the three-point line. Fellow junior
Mariana Golombowski came off the bench to hit two three pointers of her own and scoring 9 points with 4 rebounds.
The Firestorm now move on to the GSAC Tournament Championship against the #1 seeded Hope International. The championship match up will provide another opportunity for ACU to take on a team they lost twice to in the regular season. In the case of the Royals though, both games were tightly contested including the most recent one played at Darling Pavilion. That game went to overtime where the Royals prevailed by eight points.
