Early Lead Slips Away as Madonna Rallies Past ACU

Glendale, Ariz. –  Arizona Christian University jumped out to an early lead but could not recover from a big fourth inning by Madonna University, falling 13–4 Tuesday night at ACU Baseball Field in Glendale. Noah Manasan led Arizona Christian at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Blair's solo homer accounted for the Firestorm's lone extra-base hit of the night. Schertenleib also drove in a run with his first-inning double. On the mound, Noah Getz took the loss for ACU after allowing five runs over 3.1 innings of work.

  • Arizona Christian struck first in the opening inning.
  • An RBI groundout by Austin Kirkpatrick plated Noah Manasan, and Tyson Schertenleib followed with a double to left field that scored Luke Zuromski to give the Firestorm a 2–0 advantage.
  • ACU added to its lead in the second inning when Zach Blair launched a solo home run to right field, pushing the margin to 3–0.
  • Madonna began to chip away in the third inning with an RBI groundout from Donovan Thompson before breaking the game open in the fourth.
  • The Crusaders erupted for nine runs on a series of extra-base hits and timely singles.
  • Gus Simon and Brett Reed each delivered run-scoring doubles, while Thompson and Chase Gabel added multi-RBI hits during the inning to flip the game in Madonna's favor and give the visitors a commanding 10–3 lead.
  • ACU picked up another run in the seventh when Noah Manasan singled to right field, allowing Andrew Ivy to score, but the Firestorm offense struggled to sustain momentum against Madonna's bullpen.
