Riverside, Calif.- The Arizona Christian University flag football team picked up one win across three GSAC contests on Wednesday and Thursday.
ACU opened play with a 19-7 loss to Hope International University. The Firestorm were held to 134 yards of offense and just seven second-quarter points, with
CC Maccagnano throwing for 116 yards and a touchdown to
Mikayla Navarro.
Anelly Alba made five tackles with an interception.
The Firestorm bounced back in a big way later Wednesday, rolling past Simpson University 32-13. Maccagnano tossed three touchdowns and 251 yards and rushed for another score. Navarro hauled in two scores while
Aleena Tobar collected one scoring catch.
Seylah Childress added 61 rushing yards and a touchdown as ACU piled up 325 yards of offense.
Carly Reeves recorded seven tackles.Â
Shea Gonzalez had six tackles with an interception.Â
Jaidah Griego added an interception herself.
On Thursday, ACU fell 38-19 to host La Sierra University. The Firestorm struck first and finished with 244 yards, including 218 passing from Maccagnano, but three interceptions proved costly. Navarro and Tobar each recorded receiving touchdowns in the loss. Â Childress found the end zone on the ground.
Reeves was credited with 8.5 tackles.Â
Shana Hunton added eight tackles.Â
Angie Ruiz-Salazar was listed with seven tackles.
