Arizona Christian And Georgetown (KY) To Square Off In Round of 16

Kansas City, Mo.- The final 16 teams have converged on Kansas City for the 88th Annual NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship with Arizona Christian- the two seed in the Naismith Quadrant-  and the three seed Georgetown (KY) to face off on Thursday.

Arizona Christian
The Firestorm (24-7) won the Chandler bracket with a 91-82 win over Wayland Baptist on Saturday.  Shaud Bradley scored 19 points.

Arizona Christian has advanced to the final site of Kansas City for the fifth straight year.  ACU is 9-9 all-time playing in the legendary Municipal Auditorium.  Overall in NAIA tournament play, ACU holds a 20-10 all-time record.  Searching for their first Red Banner, Arizona Christian has advanced to the Fab Four in two of the last four years.

Georgetown
The Tigers (24-7) advanced to KCMO after beating Bethel 85-68 in the Georgetown bracket on Saturday. Isaiah Mason, Darien Lewis, and Bubba Leavell all scored 17 points in the win.

Georgetown College has qualified for the NAIA MBB national tourney a total of 45 appearances and raised the Red Banner three times.  Their 45 appearances is most for any team still playing this season.  Their three national championships are tied for the most of the remaining 16 teams.

Series
Arizona Christian and Georgetown have previously met four times with the Tigers holding a 3-1 edge after winning the last three meetings.  The Firestorm and the Tigers faced off earlier this season at Park (MO) with Georgetown winning 76-75.  Ese Onakpoma had 23 points for ACU while Mason topped Georgetown with 17 points.  Counting today, all five meetings have been or will be played on a neutral court in the state of Missouri (four in Municipal Auditorium).
