ACU Splits With OUAZ

Surprise, Ariz. –  Arizona Christian salvaged a split in its GSAC doubleheader on Friday in Surprise, falling in game one before bouncing back with a strong all-around performance in game two against OUAZ. In game one, Jack Brooker took the loss on the mound, allowing three runs over four innings of work. OUAZ totaled 10 hits in the contest and capitalized on early opportunities to secure the win. In game two, The Firestorm responded in a big way in game two, using timely hitting and a dominant pitching performance to earn a 6-1 victory and split the day. On the mound, Casey Farrell was outstanding, tossing a complete game while allowing just one run on four hits. He struck out seven and did not issue a walk in the dominant performance.

Inside Game One
  • The Firestorm dropped the opener 5-1, struggling to generate consistent offense against OUAZ.
  • The Spirit struck early with two runs in the first inning and never trailed, adding insurance runs in the fourth and sixth to pull away.
  • ACU's lone run came in the fourth inning when Noah Manasan delivered an RBI triple to center field, scoring Kolten Lindstrom. Manasan led the Firestorm offensively in game one, going 2-for-3, while Berkeley Kaiser also recorded a pair of hits.
  • ACU lost the game, 5-1. 

Inside Game Two
  • ACU got on the board in the second inning on an RBI single from Gavin Murphy before breaking the game open in the third. 
  • Andrew Ivy doubled in a run, and Manasan followed with an RBI single to give ACU a 3-1 lead.
  • The Firestorm continued to add on, with Zach Blair lifting a sacrifice fly in the fourth and ACU tacking on two more runs in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach.
  • Kolten Lindstrom led the offensive effort in game two, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. 
  • Murphy added two hits and an RBI, while Manasan continued his strong day at the plate with two hits and a run driven in.
  • ACU won the game, 6-1.

On Saturday, the Firestorm will close out the series against OUAZ and play at 5pm.
