Mesa, Ariz.- The first win in program history for Arizona Christian University Flag Football came Friday night as the Firestorm defeated Benedictine University Mesa 37–6 in their first Golden State Athletic Conference contest.
Arizona Christian set the tone early at Dobson High School, scoring the first touchdown of the game and adding a team safety to take a 9–0 lead after the opening quarter. The Firestorm offense added two more touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 22–6 halftime advantage and pulled away with two more scores in the fourth to secure the program's first victory.
Quarterback
CC Maccagnano led the Firestorm attack, completing 17-of-33 passes for 281 yards and four touchdowns while also adding 16 rushing yards.
Mikayla Navarro caught three passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns, while
Kaila Yniguez recorded six receptions for 101 yards and a score.
Defensively, Arizona Christian forced three interceptions and recorded three sacks, led by
Shana Hunton's 11 tackles and
Bella Huguez's three sacks.
Alana D'Alessio grabbed two of the interceptions while
Shea Gonzalez claimed her first interception.
Following her performance, Maccagnano was also named the GSAC Flag Football Offensive Player of the Week, presented by Athletic Solutions, for the second consecutive week.

In another first, the Firestorm will play two games in a week when they host OUAZ on Wednesday and Nevada State on Saturday. Both games will start on the ACU Football Field at 6:00 pm.
