Firestorm Season Concludes After Tight Loss vs UCSD

Glendale, Ariz.– Arizona Christian battled hard in the SLC Division II conference matchup on Saturday but came up short against UC San Diego, falling 8-5 at ACU Lacrosse Field in Glendale. Although a tough game, the Firestorm almost came back, only losing by three goals at the end of the game.

Inside The Game

The first quarter started slowly for the Firestorm, as well as the Tritons. UCSD scored one goal while ACU did not find the back of the net. Goalie Gavin Hale and senior LSM Ryan Leonard led the defensive stand for the Firestorm.
The score was 1-0 UCSD at the end of the first.
The second quarter was similar. The ACU defense continued to play excellently, and the offense was able to score two goals, one from senior Ian Bundy in his last game. The game was most definitely a defensive battle.
At the half, the score was 2-2.
Coming out of the half, both teams looked to have a little bit more going offensively. The Firestorm scored 2 goals and allowed 3, putting them down one going into the fourth quarter.
The score was 5-4 UCSD at the end of the third quarter.
The final quarter of play was not what ACU hoped for. With the season on the line, the guys were not able to pull out the upset. UCSD scored 3 to ACU's 1.
ACU lost the game, 5-8.
