Softball Earns First “W” In NAIA Championship, Season Ends In Day Cap

Klamath Falls, Ore.- In the first game of day two of the Klamath Falls Bracket of the NAIA Softball Championship, Arizona Christian held on for their first win in championship play.  Unfortunately, the Firestorm lost the last game of the day to see their season come to an end.

Inside Game One
  • ACU struck first when Herrera singled home Martin and Madonia in the third
  • Herrera made it 3-0 with squeeze bunt to plate Madonia in the fifth
  • STU answered with a run in the bottom of the frame
  • Bradford accounted for the winning runs when she homered off the right field foul pole- her third bomb of the season
  • The Bobcats made it interesting with a three run seventh 
  • Grinstead recorded her fifth strikeout of the game for win number 16 on the year and the first for ACU in NAIA postseason action
  • Win number 37 on the year ties the most season wins in program history

Inside Game Two
  • Inning number two saw Estabrook double home Slater for an early 1-0 Firestorm lead
  • The Skyhawks went from down 1-0 to up 6-1 in the fourth with two ACU errors factoring into the scoring
  • A Bradford single, Brittany McCracken single, Estabrook hit by a pitch, Madonia sac fly, and Martin RBI single cut the deficit in half
  • But ACU would not get any closer as DSU added an insurance run in the sixth
  • Grinstead claimed the loss despite only surrendering two earned runs (11 runs allowed, only four earned on the day)

Up Next
Although the season comes to an end, the 2026 Firestorm can hang their hats on one of the most successful seasons in program history- tied for most overall wins, most wins in GSAC play, regular season GSAC championship, and first win in NAIA Championship play.  Well done- Firestorm Softball!
