Jimmy Gutierrez is in his first season as an ACU Assistant Coach.
Coach Gutierrez currently also coaches the Arizona Hotshots Gold travel team. He previously ran the Arizona Outlaws which saw all the players continue their careers playing in college. Coach Vidal spent six years as an assistant coach at Paradise valley Community College. He began his coaching career in 2005 when he started coaching his daughters.
Off the dirt, Coach Gutierrez spent 21 years working in the behavioral health field with at risk youth. He coached wrestling for seven years in the Mesa and Deer Valley School Districts.
The Arizona native has attended Arizona State University, Phoenix College, and Mesa High School. While at Mesa High, he played football and baseball and wrestled. Mixed in with his academic work, Coach Gutierrez served in the US Army during Desert Storm (a third generation war time military man). After his service in the Army, he took up boxing and at one point was interviewed for the ESPN series “The Contender”.
Coach Gutierrez and his wife Melissa are blessed with five daughters- Alyssa, Adriana, Aryanna, Anjolina, and Abriana, one son Jacob, one son-in-law Gio, and two grandchildren- Cruz and Carli.
