San Diego, Calif. - Seven San Diego Christian College players scored in double figures as the Hawks defeated Arizona Christian College, 110-63, in Nov. 11 non-conference women's basketball action in San Diego. SDCC evens its record at 1-1, and ACU falls to 1-2 with a game at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, Saturday, Nov. 12, at 8 p.m. Arizona time.
The Hawks steadily pulled away from the Firestorm, reaching their widest margin, 44-19, with 4:49 left in the first half and led by as many as 49 points with 1:55 left in the game. SDCC shot .547 from the field for the game (41-75) and .556 in the second half (20-36) and survived 31 turnovers, while ACU shot just .297 from the field (22-74) and .293 in the second half (12-41) while committing 33 turnovers. San Diego Christian outrebounded ACU, 56-41.
ACU's senior guard Steffani Liscum (Tucson, Ariz./Marana H.S.), who totaled 60 points in ACU's first two games, led the Firestorm with 20 points on 8-21 from the field but just 1-8 from three-point range, and she also added 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Senior guard Anne Munsil (Scottsdale, Ariz./Scottsdale Christian Academy) finished with 12 points on 4-9 field goals and had 3 three-pointers and 8 rebounds. Freshman forward Stephanie Brimhall (Gilbert, Ariz./Perry H.S.), added 12 points and made all 6 of her free throw attempts and gathered 5 rebounds.
Junior guard Jessica Largo (Gallup, N.M./Rehoboth Christian School), an All-Conference first team selection last season, contributed 7 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 of ACU's 14 steals, and freshman forward Sarah Beth Hock (Gilbert, Ariz./Perry H.S.), Brimhall's high school teammate, tossed in 6 points. Freshman center Jamie Heath (Phoenix, Ariz./Thunderbird H.S.) scored 4 points and grabbed 3 rebounds and had one steal.
Leading seven players in double figures for SDCC was junior guard Brittany Daniel, who recorded a triple double with 26 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists, 2 blocked shots and 6 steals, and senior guard Brittany Robinson with 18 points, 2 three-pointers, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal. Off the bench, sophomore guard Sabrina Jimenez added 16 points, one three-pointer and 3 assists, and sophomore guard Heather Serven tallied 13 points with 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Sophomore forward Jermani Stewart contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds, earning a double-double, and senior point guard Jasmin Thomas and freshman guard Hannah Miller each scored 10 points. Thomas also grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 9 assists and had 2 steals, while Miller passed out 3 assists and had one steal.
