ST. LOUIS, MO – The Arizona Christian University Firestorm earned their second road win in program history on Saturday night, by defeating Missouri Baptist University by a final of 38-13.

With the victory, the Firestorm improve to 2-6 overall, while Missouri Baptist falls to 0-9 overall.

The Firestorm struck first on Saturday evening, as quarterback Ryan Esslinger got ACU on the board with a two-yard rushing touchdown in the final minute of the first quarter to make it 7-0.

In the second quarter, ACU would continue to put points up against Missouri Baptist; ten to be exact. Michael Costello booted a 48 yard field goal to give ACU a 10-0 advantage mid-way through the quarter. Then with a minute and 35 seconds left, Mike Brown rushed in from 12 yards out to give ACU a 17-0 lead going into halftime.

Missouri Baptist would score on three straight possessions to start the second half, to make it a 17-13 ballgame.

However, the Firestorm then rattled off a rushing touchdown and two passing touchdowns to pull away for good from Missouri Baptist, on their way to a 38-13 victory.

Esslinger finished the game 31-for-49 for 305 yards, with two passing touchdowns and one rushing.

Mitchell Carpenter and Marcus Winner both tied for the team lead with nine defensive tackles.

The Firestorm will close out their inaugural 2014 season at home, next Saturday November 1st against Menlo College at 7:15pm at Shadow Mountain High School. It is Homecoming weekend at ACU, with both soccer teams set to host Vanguard University at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex next Saturday.
