Doubles GRRREAT, Singles NOT

Azusa, CA- On Tuesday, Men's Tennis swept doubles but unfortunately were swept in singles as Arizona Christian fell to NCAA DII Azusa Pacific 6-3.  Junior Seth Moore and Sophomore Macen Vargas loss just two games on doubles court three in their win.

The afternoon could not have started any better for the Firestorm (4-9) as the teams opened in doubles play.

Moore and Vargas were in almost complete control as they were the first match done with their 8-2 score.

Senior Tyler Cawthorne and Junior Ezequiel Suarez were the next court finished as they won 8-4.

Court two saw Sophomore Santiago Galeffi and Senior Michael Munguia paired up to complete the doubles sweep with their 8-3 win.

But then the match rolled into singles.  The first three singles matches completed saw the Firestorm not win more than two games in any set against the Cougars (15-3).

On court three, Moore put up a fight in the first set falling 7-5.  But the second set was all Alan Leahy.

Suarez dropped a close first set 7-6 but 6-2 was as close as he would get in the second set on court five.

Munguia was the most consistent in singles.  In the first set, he went down 6-4.  The second set was similar as he was on the short end of a 6-3 score.

The Firestorm return to Arizona to meet up with Wisconsin-Eau Claire in Tucson on Wednesday.  First serve is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
