Glendale, Ariz.- Just days after nailing a field goal to lock up the SAC championship, Sophomore Nestor Higuera was named the NAIA and SAC Special Teams Player of the Week as announced by both organizations on Monday.  For Higuera, the NAIA selection was his second of the season and his fifth SAC weekly honor.

Higuera, who hails locally from Phoenix, capped a game winning six play 33 second drive with a 46 yard field goal as time expired to beat SAGU 23-20 on Saturday.  The kick to avoid overtime secured a SAC championship- the third conference championship in the last six years for the Firestorm.

The kicker connected on two extra points as well in the win.  For good measure, two of his kickoffs resulted in touchbacks to limit the dangerous SAGU return game.

His seven made field goals on the season places Higuera in the top ten in the NAIA.
