Inside The Numbers

  • The ACU defensive unit forced a three-and-out on the first drive of the game

  • The first offensive possession resulted in a fumble that two plays later LCU cashed in for a touchdown (the only points LCU actually created off ACU turnovers)

  • Behind 14-0 after one quarter, Duncan found the endzone just 49 seconds into the second quarter

  • But the Wildcats answered by returning the ensuing kick-off for a touchdown

  • Dowdy and Duncan responded by connecting from two yards out to cap a short drive after a LCU fumble lost

  • Thirteen straight LCU points saw the Firestorm fall behind by 20

  • Two field goals from Nestor Higuera sandwiched a Commans-to-Johnson touchdown strike and suddenly ACU found themselves just seven points behind

  • ACU scored on all four of their trips into the redzone

  • But the final three ACU drives ended in fumble, downs, and fumble

  • The Wildcats put the game out of reach with a late touchdown

Thoughts from Coach Bowen

"Too many errors to overcome, but our team stayed in the fight.  With four minutes left we still had a chance to win the game.  We need to play four quarters of focused football.  When we do that we will be a good football team."
