Aliso Viejo, Calif.- Sophomore Callie Drefs competing in the 200 Freestyle both won and set a new school record in the process.  Along with senior Eva Garraux winning the 100 Butterfly, the Firestorm women gave a strong showing at the pool they will return to in January for the GSAC Championships. Drefs performance moved her up to 7^th in the NAIA, and Garraux is now ranked 5^th in her event. 
 
Other notable performances included freshman Claire Eilers in the 100 Backstroke finishing 3^rd in a time of 1:08.48.  Junior Robin Abrams paced herself to an 11:29.59 in the 1000 Freestyle earning her own third place finish.  And lastly, Audrey Washburn was the Firestorms third 3^rd place finisher, this time in the 200 Backstroke where she glided to a 2:31.15.
 
Both relay team finished in the top three as well.  The 200 Medley Relay consisted of Drefs, Eilers, Garraux, and freshman Ella Moir.  The 200 Freestyle also included Drefs, Eiler and Moir, but added Abby Lair.
 
Head Coach Brad Hering had this to say about the meet, "I am so proud of this team!  Some good swims including a school record and victory from Callie!  Our relays looked good as well.  It was nice being able to get used to the pool we will swim in for the GSAC in January."

Next On the Schedule
The Firestorm Swim Teams will take a month off before returning on Saturday, December 7^th to Brophy High School for a meet hosted by Grand Canyon University.  Competition will begin at 11:00am.
