Firestorm Drop Season Opener To Skyhawks

Durango, Colo. - First away game for the 2024 season, Arizona Christian gave a great comeback, but in the end it was not enough.  Fort Lewis, an NCAA Division II foe, got their first win after 40 straight losses.
 
Chase Tompkins helped to keep the Firestorm in the game, with seven carries for 25 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
 
The team captain, Jordan Francis Jordan led the defense with six tackles- five being solo.  Ngianni Cerisier, the starting cornerback, was behind him with five solo tackles.
 
Offensive Stars
  • Johnny Herrera - 11-22, 111 passing yards
  • Tompkins - 7-25 yards rushing, 2 TD
  • AJ Sibley - 12-68 rushing yards, 2-31 receiving yards

Inside The Numbers
  • 3:28 in the first quarter, FLC Stone Walker ran in a ten-yard TD that took 12 plays and 85

  • In the 2nd quarter with 4:43 left,FLC Christopher Thomas Jr. caught a two yard pass from Walker capping a 15 play, 80 yard drive
  • ACU scored in the 3rd quarter on a 17 play, 90-yard drive that Tompkins carried in from three yards out
  • In the 4th, the Skyhawks added a 19-yard field goal
  • With four mins left in the game, Tompkins ran in his second two-yard TD that took 12 plays and 64 yards
