Big Swings, Bigger Momentum as ACU Outslugs Corban

Glendale, Ariz. – Arizona Christian used a balanced offensive attack and timely pitching to secure an 11–8 victory over Corban (OR) in the Coach Calderon Invitational tournament.

Inside The Game
  • The Firestorm answered an early Corban run by erupting for three runs in the second inning. 
  • Joey Genduso sparked the rally with a two-run single to left, scoring Jacob Solis and Noah Manasan, before Marcellus Cueva doubled down the left-field line to drive in Genduso for a 3–1 advantage.
  • ACU led 3-1 at the end of the second inning. 
  • After Corban briefly tied the game in the third, ACU quickly regained control. 
  • Kolten Lindstrom delivered an RBI single to put the Firestorm back in front, and Genduso followed with a solo home run to left-center in the fourth to extend the lead to 5–3.
  • ACU put the game out of reach with a three-run fifth inning, highlighted by RBI contributions from Andrew Flynn, Genduso, and a sacrifice fly from Zach Blair
  • The Firestorm continued to apply pressure in the sixth, plating two more runs on RBI singles by Flynn and Genduso to build a commanding 10–4 cushion.
  • Genduso led the offensive charge, finishing 4-for-5 with five RBIs, including the first home run on the brand new field. 
  • Lindstrom crossed the plate three times, while Solis and Manasan each added multi-hit performances as ACU totaled 13 hits on the night.
  • On the mound, Casey Farrell earned the win, allowing four runs over 5.2 innings while striking out eight. 
  • The Firestorm bullpen worked through traffic late before David Gordon II closed the door in the ninth to seal the victory.
  • ACU capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly from Cueva in the eighth and held off a late Corban push to secure the win and remain unbeaten.
  • ACU won the game, 11-8.
