Firestorm Rally Falls Just Short in Loss Against #9 Taylor

Glendale, Ariz. – Arizona Christian battled throughout a tightly contested matchup but ultimately came up short in a 4–2 loss to unbeaten #9 ranked Taylor on Friday night at ACU Baseball Field. Noah Manasan led the Firestorm offense with two RBIs, while Andrew Ivy and Reese Vassar each scored. On the mound, ACU pitchers combined for seven strikeouts and limited Taylor to just five hits.

  • The game unfolded as a pitchers' duel through the first four innings, with both teams held scoreless early. 
  • ACU's staff set the tone from the outset, as Tyson Kilbreath and R'Mani Adams combined to keep Taylor off the board through the first four frames, allowing just one hit while working around traffic.
  • Taylor broke through in the fifth inning, capitalizing on a fielder's choice and a pair of wild pitches to plate two runs. The Trojans added to their lead in the sixth with a two-run single, pushing the margin to 4–0.
  • Taylor led 4-0 in the top of the sixth inning. 
  • ACU answered immediately in the bottom of the sixth. 
  • With runners in scoring position, Noah Manasan delivered the big swing of the night, lining a two-run single up the middle to bring home Reese Vassar and Andrew Ivy and cut the deficit in half. 
  • The rally injected life into the ACU dugout and momentum shifted briefly toward the Firestorm.
  • Taylor still lead 4-2. 
  • ACU's bullpen responded with strong work down the stretch. 
  • Tyler Bailey was especially sharp, tossing three scoreless innings to keep the Firestorm within striking distance while allowing just one hit. 
  • The defense also tightened up, turning a double play to erase a threat.
  • Despite drawing four walks and putting runners aboard late, ACU was unable to push across the tying runs. 
  • ACU lost the game, 4-2.
