Perfect Flight Interrupted: Firestorm Deal Eagles First Loss of the Season

Glendale, Ariz. – Arizona Christian put together a complete performance, rolling past Embry-Riddle (AZ) 11–0 at the ACU Baseball Field to improve to 3–2 on the season. Behind dominant pitching and a relentless offensive attack, the Firestorm never let the Eagles find a rhythm. At the plate, Joey Genduso led the way with three hits, including a triple, and two RBIs, while Luke Zuromski and Austin Kirkpatrick each recorded multi-hit games. Zach Blair reached base four times and scored three runs as ACU finished with 13 hits and nine walks on the night. Casey Farrell was brilliant on the mound, tossing seven shutout innings while allowing just two hits. He struck out nine and walked one to earn his second win of the season. Colin Plain and John Webb combined to close out the shutout over the final two innings.

ACU Stats

  • The Firestorm broke the game open with a four-run third inning.
  • Noah Manasan singled through the left side to score a run, followed by RBI fielder's choices from Austin Kirkpatrick and Ty Gillespie
  • Reese Vassar capped the frame by getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, pushing the lead to 5–0.
  • ACU continued to add on in each of the next three innings.
  • Manasan drove in another run with a groundout in the fourth, Luke Zuromski lifted a sacrifice fly in the fifth, and Joey Genduso delivered a two-run single later in the frame to extend the advantage to 9–0.
  • An unearned run in the sixth and an RBI single from Ivy in the eighth completed the scoring.
  • ACU won the game, 11-0.
