Inside The Game

Game One
  • The first quarter opened up with 2 goals from Gavin Waddell who had a big night. The defense also had a great quarter, with senior Ryan Leonard back on the field, and only allowing 2 goals. Score at the end of the first quarter: 2-2.
  • The Firestorm slowed down in the second quarter only having one goal scored by Carson Brown. The defense let up 3 goals, but Gavin Hale was fantastic in goal all night. Score at half: 5-3 Montana.
  • The third quarter looked similar to the second, with a slow offense from the Firestorm and a mostly consistent defense. Gavin Waddell got his third goal of the night but it was the only one in the quarter. Score 9-4 Montana.
  • The beginning of the fourth quarter was very slow as well, but the second half of the quarter was some of the best offense ACU has had all year. Freshman Hayden Wegner had back to back goals and a third that was waved off. Final score: 13-9 Montana
Game Two
  • The first quarter was the worst all year for the Firestorm facing a very talented FAU team. Score at quarter: 6-0 FAU.
  • The second quarter continued to be rough for the Firestorm, but looked much better with goals coming from Carson Brown and Tristan Watters. The defense also stepped up only allowing 3 goals. Score at half: 9-2 FAU.
  • The third quarter was consistent with most of the game; consistent offense from FAU, and inconsistent play from ACU. Kale Parthen, who was dominant in this game, had his second goal of the season. Score: 13-3 FAU.
  • The Firestorm had a thing for exciting fourth quarters as they went out and won the quarter 5-2. Gavin Waddell had 2 goals on offense and Brody Tkachyk had his best night of the year. Final score: 15-8 FAU.
Game Three
  • Going into this game the guys were ready to win a game and it showed in the first quarter. The whole attack line got a goal and the defense held top-20 NDSU to one goal. Score: 3-1 ACU.
  • The second quarter was pretty boring with no goals from either team. But excellent defense, led by Gavin Hale in goal and Noah Natzic at SSDM. Score at half: 3-1.
  • The start of the second half was rough for ACU. The defense which was amazing in the first half slowed down and so did the offense. Score: 5-4 NDSU.
  • The Firestorm were dealing with a 10 man ride for the second half and finally were able to exploit it with an empty net goal from Kellen Haigh to kickstart the team. Then Gavin Waddell found a pair of quick goals to take the lead back. Unfortunately due to penalties, NDSU was able to tie it up and send it to OT, and then win the game in 2nd OT while man-up. Final score: 9-8 NDSU.
