GLENDALE, Ariz. -
Dayna Herrera has been named the GSAC Softball Player of the Week, presented by Athletic Solutions, for the second consecutive week after another dominant stretch at the plate and in the circle for Arizona Christian University.
Herrera, from Albuquerque, NM, continued her torrid hitting, collecting hits in 10 of her last 12 at bats. Over five games last week, she went 11-for-18 (.611) with five runs scored, five RBIs, two doubles and a home run. She posted a .650 on-base percentage and an .889 slugging percentage, consistently delivering in key moments for the Firestorm offense.
In addition to her impact at the plate, Herrera was equally effective in the circle. She made two appearances, tossing 9.1 innings with 13 strikeouts while allowing just one unearned run for a 0.00 ERA. She earned a complete-game shutout victory and helped the Firestorm secure a 4-1 record on a snowy and cold weekend in Redding, CA.
Herrera's back-to-back GSAC weekly honors highlight her all-around contributions and leadership for Arizona Christian Softball.
Way to go, Dayna.
