Firestorm Split with the Golden Eagles

Glendale, Ariz. –  Arizona Christian split a Thursday doubleheader against La Sierra at ACU Baseball Field, cruising to an 11-5 win in the opener before falling 7-5 in the second game.

Inside Game One
  • ACU used a dominant middle innings surge to take control in the opener, highlighted by a five-run third inning that broke the game open.
  • After plating a run in the second, the Firestorm offense erupted in the third behind a string of clutch hits. 
  • RBI knocks from Luke Zuromski, Tyson Schertenleib, and Zach Blair set the tone before Kolten Lindstrom delivered the big blow—a two-run homer to left—to cap the rally and give ACU a 6-1 advantage.
  • Lindstrom continued his standout performance in the fifth with a two-run double, finishing with four RBIs on the day. 
  • Schertenleib also added a solo home run in the sixth as Arizona Christian built its lead to 11-2.
  • On the mound, Frank Wierman was sharp, tossing six innings while allowing just two runs and striking out eight to earn his fifth win of the season.
  • La Sierra mounted a late push with three runs in the eighth, including a home run from Gavin Copeland, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.
  • ACU won the game, 11-5.

Inside Game Two
  • ACU jumped out early but couldn't hold off a late La Sierra rally.
  • The Firestorm struck first with two runs in the opening inning and extended the lead to 5-3 by the fourth, highlighted by a solo home run from Zach Blair and RBI contributions from Ty Gillespie and Gavin Murphy.
  • La Sierra answered in the fourth to tie the game, then delivered the decisive blow in the sixth inning. 
  • Capitalizing on walks and a key ACU error, La Sierra pushed across four runs in the frame, turning a 5-3 deficit into a 7-5 lead.
  • ACU was unable to respond down the stretch, as La Sierra's bullpen closed the door over the final innings.
  • Blair led ACU offensively in the nightcap with two hits, including his home run, while Noah Manasan added three hits in the loss.
  • ACU lost the game, 5-7.
