ACU Split in First Doubleheader vs The Master’s

Santa Clarita, CA –  Arizona Christian split Friday's doubleheader with The Master's, falling 9–7 in the first game before bouncing back with a 6–2 victory in the second game.

Inside Game One
  • The Firestorm jumped ahead in the middle innings but could not hold off a late rally by the Mustangs in the first game.
  • The Master's took an early 1–0 lead in the second inning when Ty Beck reached on an error that allowed Blake Russell to score. Arizona Christian responded in the third as Andrew Ivy launched a solo home run to tie the game.
  • ACU surged in front during a four-run sixth inning. Luke Zuromski started the rally with a solo home run before the Firestorm capitalized on miscues. Joey Genduso scored on a passed ball, Jacob Solis drove in a run with a single, and Marcellus Cueva added a sacrifice RBI to give ACU a 5–1 advantage.
  • The Mustangs chipped away with two runs in the sixth, but the Firestorm pushed their lead to 6–3 in the eighth when Solis doubled to left field to score Noah Manasan.
  • The momentum shifted in the bottom half of the inning as The Master's erupted for six runs to take the lead. The rally featured RBI hits from Matt Lloyd and Scotty Pieper, along with a two-run single from Korbin Hodgson that helped the Mustangs go ahead 9–6.
  • ACU added a run in the ninth on an RBI single by Manasan, but the comeback attempt fell short.
  • Manasan led the Firestorm offense with three hits and two runs scored, while Solis recorded two hits and two RBIs. Ivy and Zuromski each added solo home runs.
  • Frank Wierman delivered a strong start on the mound, allowing just one unearned run over five innings while striking out seven.
  • ACU lost the game, 7-9.

Inside Game Two
  • Arizona Christian responded in game two behind a strong pitching performance and timely power hitting to earn the split.
  • The Firestorm struck first in the second inning when Gavin Murphy singled to center field to score Ty Gillespie. The Mustangs answered with runs in the second and third innings to briefly take a 2–1 lead.
  • ACU evened the score in the fourth when Kolten Lindstrom doubled to left field to bring home Luke Zuromski.
  • The Firestorm broke the game open in the fifth inning. Zuromski delivered the biggest swing of the day with a three-run home run that scored Noah Manasan and Zach Blair, giving ACU a 5–2 lead. Joey Genduso followed with a solo home run later in the inning to extend the advantage to four runs.
  • From there, starting pitcher Jack Brooker took control on the mound. The right-hander tossed a complete game, allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out seven to secure the victory.
  • Murphy finished with two hits and an RBI for ACU, while Zuromski drove in three runs and scored twice.
  • ACU won the game, 6-2.
