Firestorm Win One, Lose One vs The Master’s In CA

Santa Clarita, CA –  The Firestorm split a Saturday doubleheader against The Master's University, dropping the opener 3–1 before rallying for an 8–7 victory in the nightcap.

Inside Game One
  • In game one, Arizona Christian University struggled to generate offense despite six hits, falling 3–1. The Mustangs took advantage of defensive miscues in the second inning, scoring two unearned runs to grab the early lead. Emilio Morales drove in the first run after reaching on an error, and Dylan Taguiam followed with an RBI single to make it 2–0.
  • The Firestorm broke through in the sixth inning when Kolten Lindstrom lifted a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Zach Blair to score and cut the deficit to one. However, The Master's added an insurance run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Scotty Pieper.
  • Noah Manasan led ACU offensively, going 3-for-5 at the plate. Casey Farrell pitched well in the loss, throwing six innings and allowing just two runs — both unearned — while striking out four.
  • ACU lost the game, 1-3.

Inside Game Two
  • The Firestorm responded with a huge next game.
  • ACU jumped ahead in the third inning when Luke Zuromski drove in Andrew Ivy with an RBI single before Austin Kirkpatrick followed with another run-scoring hit to make it 2–0. After The Master's answered with a run in the bottom half, Aaron Newcomb extended the lead to 3–1 with an RBI single in the fourth.
  • The Firestorm broke the game open in the fifth inning. Gavin Murphy delivered an RBI single before Ty Gillespie ripped a bases-clearing double to left field, scoring three runs and pushing the advantage to 7–1.
  • The Mustangs mounted a comeback in the bottom of the fifth, scoring six runs highlighted by a three-run home run from Cole Rohlmeier that tied the game at 7–7.
  • ACU quickly regained the lead in the sixth inning when Kirkpatrick delivered a sacrifice fly to bring home Ivy and make it 8–7.
  • Tyson Kilbreath improved to 5–0 on the season despite the fifth-inning rally, while Colin Plain tossed a scoreless sixth inning in relief. David Gordon II closed the door in the seventh to earn his fifth save of the year.
  • Gillespie led the Firestorm offense with two hits and three RBIs, while Murphy and Manasan each added two hits in the victory.
  • ACU won the game, 8-7.
