Abril Named GSAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Glendale, Ariz.- On Monday, the Great Southwest Athletic Conference (GSAC) announced the Players of the Week and Arizona Christian's Hugo Abril was selected GSAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week, presented by Athletic Solutions.

Abril, a Barcelona, Spain native, went 6-0 last week on their Tennessee road trip.

In their match against Tennessee Southern, he competed alongside Samuel Miyata and they defeated Tennessee Southern's Ayden Kousis and Luis Cupertino de Santana, 6-4 in the #2 doubles slot. Abril competed in #1 singles and defeated UTS's Brock Hamilton, 6-1, 6-0.

In the match against Cumberland University (TN), Abril competed alongside Adrian Smith in the #1 doubles and they defeated CU's Matheus Guarnieri and Carlos Morillas, 6-1. In the #2 singles action, Abril defeated CU's Arthur Fernandes, 6-0, 6-0.

In the match against Bethel University (TN), Abril competed alongside Adrian Smith against in the #1 doubles and defeated BU's Lucca Nesi and Gabriel Perini, 6-4. Abril competed in #1 singles and defeated BU's Andrej Jovanovic, 6-1, 6-3.

The ACU senior improved his record to 9-0 in singles action. He is 5-2 when playing alongside Samuel Miyata and 3-0 when paired up with Adrian Smith.
