Firestorm Shut Out Lions On Senior Night

Glendale, Ariz.- Arizona Christian used a balanced offensive attack and capitalized on defensive miscues to earn an 11-1 victory over Justice University on Senior Night. The Firestorm celebrated 11 seniors before the game.

Inside Game One
  • Justice University struck first in the top of the second inning when they grounded out to shortstop, allowing the Lions to score for a 1-0 lead. 
  • ACU answered quickly in the third, taking advantage of errors and aggressive baserunning to plate three runs. 
  • Maddox Hodges delivered an RBI double, later scored on a wild pitch, and Zack Blair added to the momentum by stealing home to put ACU ahead 3-1.
  • The Firestorm continued to build their lead in the fourth and fifth innings. 
  • Kaden Clute highlighted the surge with a run-scoring double in the fourth and a two-run single in the fifth. Berkeley Kaiser also contributed with an RBI double as ACU stretched the advantage to 8-1.
  • ACU added two more runs in the sixth inning after another Justice error, then tacked on its final run in the eighth to complete the scoring.
  • Despite collecting nine hits, Justice University was unable to generate sustained offense after the second inning. 
  • Dirso Melendez and Boston Wade each recorded two hits, while Keito Takahashi added a double. 
  • ACU's pitching staff combined for 12 strikeouts and limited Justice to just one run.
  • ACU won the game, 11-1.
