Three Firestorm Earn GSAC Honors, Carlisle Named Coach of the Year

Glendale, Ariz.- On April 15, the GSAC announced the 2026 GSAC Men's Tennis All-Conference Team and Arizona Christian's Hugo Abril, Lennert Lemahieu, and Samuel Miyata were named All-GSAC. Abril was also selected as the 2026 GSAC Player of the Year, alongside head coach Phil Carlisle who was selected as GSAC Coach of the Year.

Abril, out of Barcelona, Spain, topped Arizona Christian in wins on the season with a 13-1 overall singles record, including a dominant 12-1 mark at the No. 1 position and a perfect 2-0 record in conference play. He also contributed in doubles with a 10-5 record, consistently competing in the top flights. Abril's reliability at the top of the lineup played a key role in the Firestorm securing the conference's top seed.

Lemahieu, out of Geluwe, Belgium, finished the season with an overall record of 10-5 in singles, including a record of 9-5 at the No. 2 spot and a perfect 1-0 conference record. He also had an outstanding 9-1 record in doubles with partner Fenosoa Rasendra.

Miyata, a Scottsdale, AZ native, finished the season with an overall record of 10-6 in singles, including a record of 2-1 at the No. 3 spot and a record of 6-5 at the No. 4 spot. He also had an impressive 5-2 record in doubles with Hugo Abril and a record of 3-4 when paired up with Petar Wemmenhove.

Coach Phil Carlisle was named GSAC Coach of the Year after leading the Firestorm to a 12-6 overall record and the No. 1 seed in the GSAC Men's Tennis Championship. Under Carlisle's leadership, ACU demonstrated strong depth and consistency across both singles and doubles competition, positioning the program as a conference frontrunner heading into postseason play.
