Butte, Mont. —
Zuri Reeser led Arizona Christian on day two of the Big Sky Volleyball Challenge, helping the Firestorm finish the opening weekend with a 2-2 record after a 1-1 Saturday. Reeser paced ACU with 31 kills and 39 digs across the two matches.
Match One vs. Montana Tech
Arizona Christian battled host Montana Tech in a four-set match, with the Orediggers earning a 3-1 victory.
The Firestorm held a 23-22 advantage in the opening set before Montana Tech rallied to claim a 25-23 win.
The second set was tied at 5-5 before a 5-0 Oredigger run helped Montana Tech take control and eventually win 25-18.
ACU responded in the third set, leading throughout the frame before closing out a 25-23 victory. The teams battled to a 1-1 tie early in the fourth set, but Montana Tech pulled away to secure the match.
Reeser finished with 13 kills and 18 digs.
Madison Sherby added seven kills and 12 digs.
Becca Thomson recorded 19 assists and
Addison Bowie contributed 13 assists.
Match Two vs. Indiana South Bend
The Firestorm closed the weekend with a four-set victory over Indiana South Bend.
ACU jumped out to leads of 6-0 and 10-2 in the opening set and never surrendered control, earning a 25-17 win.
The Titans answered in the second set after the teams battled to a 16-16 tie, outscoring the Firestorm 9-5 down the stretch for a 25-21 victory.
Arizona Christian trailed 16-15 in the third set before responding with a strong finish to earn a 25-22 win.
The fourth set featured another back-and-forth battle, but the Firestorm again prevailed 25-22 to close out the victory.
Reeser posted 18 kills and 21 digs to lead the Firestorm.
Madison Van Wie added 10 kills while
Haley Kootstra, Sherby and
Olivia Stubenrauch each recorded five kills. Thomson finished with 21 assists and 10 digs, Bowie added 17 assists, and
Kiah Lerma contributed 11 digs.
