Glendale, Ariz. – On Wednesday afternoon, Arizona Christian Women's Volleyball opened their 2026 home schedule in impressive fashion, sweeping Westcliff 25-22, 25-17, 25-22 at the Firestorm Recreation Center. The Firestorm improved to 3-2 on the season, while Westcliff fell to 2-4.
Zuri Reeser led the Firestorm attack with 11 kills on 29 attempts, while also adding seven digs.
Madison Sherby came off the bench to contribute nine kills, and
Haley Kootstra added four kills and a team-high two blocks. As a team, ACU finished with 39 kills and hit .156 for the match.

Tiger Shelton commented, "This is a long season and it just started. We're trying to figure out what we are all doing and it's all coming together. We did not play our best but it was good to see everyone come together and get the W. I thought that our freshman did really well and they are getting better every day. Tomorrow's another day."
Westcliff held an 11-9 advantage early in the opening set before strong serving from
Kiah Lerma sparked a 6-0 Firestorm run. ACU seized control and maintained the lead the rest of the way, taking the opening set 25-22.
The Warriors grabbed a 1-0 lead to begin set two, but the Firestorm quickly responded and moved in front for good. ACU built its advantage throughout the set before closing out a 25-17 victory to take a 2-0 match lead.
Westcliff came out strong in the third set, jumping ahead 7-1. The Firestorm continued to battle and eventually reclaimed the lead at 17-16 as part of an 8-0 run. ACU maintained its momentum down the stretch and completed the sweep with a 25-22 third-set win.
The Firestorm will be right back in action Thursday when they host Cumberland (Tenn.) at the Firestorm Recreation Center. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
