Phoenix, AZ- Swimming two days in a row in two different cities did not deter the Firestorm from setting eight school records. Sophomore Jacy Green set five of the records in the pool.
Starting with a trip up to Flagstaff on Friday, Arizona Christian participated in the Blue vs Gold Meet at Northern Arizona University. Three Firestorm hit the water for four races not longer than 100 yards.
Freshman Emma Stevens was the star of day one as she set school records in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle race with times of 25.92 and 59.34 respectively. Green established her season best effort in the 100 yard back stroke with a 1:14.40 time. Sophomore Briget McBennett swam 34.31 in her 50 yard freestyle race and set a new personal mark of 1:39.89 in the 100 breast stroke.
The Firestorm then traveled 460 miles on Friday night to La Mirada, CA.
On Saturday, Arizona Christian participated in the Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference pentathlon at the Splash Aquatic Center hosted by Biola.
Only Green and McBennett hit the water.
Green saw six results posted setting school records in five of them. Swimming all four 50 races, she posted new records in the butterfly (31.47), breast stroke (35.59), and backstroke (32.91). She put up a time of 28.22 in the 50 free. She broke her own record in the pentathlon with a total time of 3:19.27. Then Green lowered the school record in the 100 individual medley with an effort of 1:11.08.
McBennett swam five freestyle events- 25 (15.28), 50 (33.85- new personal best), 100 (1:16.29), 200 (2:55.86), and 500 (7:51.83- new school record). Her times resulted in a freestyle pentathlon result of 12:53.11.
ACU has a month to prepare for their next meet when they will swim on November 11 in the Soka Invitational in Aliso Viejo.
