Box Score Phoenix, AZ- Playing for the third time in three days, Arizona Christian followed a close loss and close win with a blowout win of 114-55 over Yellowstone Christian on Thursday afternoon. Seven Firestorm scored in double digits as Junior Callum Lawson lead the charge with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Lawson scored the first four points of the game followed by two points from the Centurions. The 4-2 score was as close as YCC would get. In fact, a three pointer from Senior Matt Willkomm started a 24 point run for the Firestorm (11-2).
By halftime, ACU held a commanding 65-16 lead on the strength of holding YCC to 14.8% shooting and winning the rebound battle 33-8 in the first 20 minutes.
With 16 points and nine rebounds at the break, Lawson was well on his way to his fifth double-double of the season.
A balanced attack in the second half saw all but one Firestorm tally some points. When the final whistle sounded, joining Lawson in double digits was Junior Carter Wilson (12), Senior Omari Lewis (12), Sophomore Lawrence Combs (11), Willkomm (11), Senior Sam Finley (10), and Junior Andres Aguado (10).
Pacing the attack was Willkomm and Freshman Johannes Menzel with five assists. Junior Cam Frith was right behind with four dimes.
Odd fact- no Firestorm played more than 18 minutes or less than 10 minutes.
The Firestorm will enjoy some time off for Christmas before returning to the Fultz Memorial court on Saturday, January 30, at 4:00 pm against Benedictine-Mesa.
