Men's Basketball Starts Season with Fultz Classic Win

Box Score

GLENDALE, Ariz. - The Arizona Christian University men's basketball program (1-0) opened its season Friday evening with a 98-71 win over the Randall University Saints (0-2), inside the ACU Events Center in Glendale, Ariz.

Thoughts from Coach:

After the win, Head Coach Jeff Rutter said, "We did a nice job defensively tonight.  Randall is talented and difficult team to guard, but we had some great defensive possessions.  We've been waiting so long to play someone else that we seemed a little wound up when we got out there.  We were very careless with the ball, and will need to take care of it and make better decisions moving forward."

Game Details:

The game was all-ACU, with the Firestorm shooting 34-of-63 (.540) from the field and 14-of-35 (.400) from beyond the arc in the 97-71 victory.  With the win, ACU moves to 2-0 all time against Randall.  The game was also part of the ACU Fultz Classic, a tournament in honor of the late Tim Fultz, an ACU men's basketball alum who died tragically during a missionary journey to Africa in 1990.  At halftime, several of Tim's teammates were recognized on the court.
