GLENDALE, Ariz. - Six members of the ACU women's basketball team were named Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) Scholar-Athletes according to a release by the conference office earlier today.
Elah Alvis, Katy Fairbanks, Kayla Furman, Des Gonzalez, Ashley Measel, and Baylee Slaughter were six of 46 women's basketball players from the GSAC to earn the honor. To qualify for this award, an athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically and obtain at least a 3.5 GPA or greater.
Head Coach Rusty Rogers said of his players, "I am super proud of our scholar-athletes! This recognition is a tremendous tribute to the hard work these six ladies have put into their studies, while still meeting the required demands as members of the women's basketball program."
The six women excelled not only in the classroom, but helped to propel the women's basketball program to a 12-5 (.706) overall record and a 5-3 GSAC record on the court this season, also ending the season on a four-game winning streak.
