Fierro Voted GSAC Libero Of The Year

Glendale, Ariz.- The Golden State Athletic Conference announced the 2020-21 Volleyball All-GSAC Team on Tuesday and Sophomore Alyssa Fierro was named the GSAC Libero of the Year.  Fierro topped the GSAC with 5.89 digs per set in the extended 2020 season.

Head Coach Micah Briscoe stated, "We could not be prouder of Alyssa for this great accomplishment for what it means for her and what it means for our program.  Alyssa has worked hard for her position and is reaping the benefits of her diligent effort.  She competes at a very high level both in practice and in matches.  She is a leader in all applicable skill sets at the conference level, at the national level, and has been a clear stabilizing factor for our team all year long.  This is a well-deserved award, and she has an even brighter future!"

Fierro, the native of Phoenix, AZ, produced 312 digs in 53 sets to account for her just under six digs per set.  Her 5.89 digs per set establishes a new ACU single season record.  Nationally her digs per set rank in the top 15 in the NAIA.

Every match in 2020-21 saw Fierro deliver at least 12 digs with 26 digs or more coming in seven matches.  Her best work was a 34 dig performance against Oklahoma Panhandle in four sets.  She racked up 34 digs against Wayland Baptist in the five set season finale.

Not to be overlooked her 0.40 service aces per set ranks ninth in the GSAC.  Fierro closed out the year with five aces against WBU.

Alyssa Fierro- Kudos on the well-deserved Libero of the Year honors.
