Rogers, Ply Threaten Records Again At Moorpark

Moorpark, Calif. - Women's Track and Field competed for the second consecutive weekend at the Moorpark Season Opener in Moorpark, California. Friday's meet saw 10 personal records set by the Lady Firestorm, including multiple PRs by three different athletes (Mirdege Lentz, Adalien Santa Maria, and Katalina Robinson).

Notably, McKenna Rogers and Rachel Ply poked at the program's all-time records in pole vault and high jump again. Rogers won the pole vault discipline by clearing a 3.24-meter bar, 0.13 meters past her previous best just this past week at the PVCC Indoor. Ply claimed a tie for third place in high jump by bettering her previous mark by 0.03 meters (1.55 meters).

Allena Fugatt shaved a full 17 seconds off her personal-best time in the 3000 meters, posting 11:18.41 and earning 11th place.

Long Jump Pole Vault THOUGHTS FROM COACH BRIAN BELL

"It was a great opportunity to get an early season look at the Master's University and Vanguard, while competing against some top programs from Southern California," Coach Bell said. "We couldn't be more pleased with how the athletes performed and conducted themselves at the Moorpark Opener. It's fun and exciting to see so many student-athletes doing so well this early in the season. The coaching staff and I are confident that come late April we will be able to compete with the best at the GSAC championship."

NEXT UP FOR THE FIRESTORM

The Lady Firestorm ready themselves for their third meet in as many weeks, with the Gaucho Indoor Invitational hosted by Glendale Community College on February 10th. It also marks the final event of the indoor season prior to outdoor competition beginning March 1st.
